Nick Taylor will be determined to become the first Canadian golfer to win the
WM Phoenix Open twice by successfully defending his title this weekend.
What to know about Taylor
The experienced golfer has won on the PGA Tour five times, including becoming the first Canadian to win the Canadian Open since 1954, which he did in 2023 at the Oakdale Golf & Country Club.
Taylor, who turned professional 15 years ago, was awarded the 2009 Mark H. McCormack Medal as the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and the 2010 Ben Hogan Award as the best college golf player in the United States.

The Winnipeg-born golfer was in action in the most recent PGA Tour event in 2025 which was the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California, USA where he finished 33rd.
Taylor is currently placed 29th on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and his best OWGR rank is 24th.
Why Taylor is among the favourites
The economic degree holder has been one of the best performers in the WM Phoenix Open in the last two years - winning the 2024 event after finishing second in 2023.
Taylor has already tasted success in the current 2025 PGA Tour season having won the Sony Open in Hawaii title and this should boost his confidence as he looks to successfully defend the WM Phoenix Open.

"I think last year I drew a lot on for the Canadian Open and I've drawn on that for plenty of moments, as well.
For whatever reason it is, the later it gets, I just seem to get a little more locked in and zoned in and kind of relish those moments, and it's been a lot of fun."
